Trek has unveiled an ultra-lightweight version of its iconic Madone Gen 8, setting a new benchmark for weight and performance. Tipping the scales at a mere 6.40 kilograms, this new iteration not only challenges design conventions but also dips below the UCI’s minimum weight limit.
A defining feature of this superlight Madone is its SRAM 1x drivetrain, a configuration proven at the highest level of competition by the Lidl-Trek team. For riders, Trek offers two distinct options: a SRAM 1×12-speed setup, and a SRAM XPLR 1×13-speed groupset that provides a wider gear range. Both are engineered for cyclists seeking an optimal balance of simplicity, reliability, and minimal weight.
To achieve this record-low weight, Trek meticulously optimized every component. The bike is equipped with the notoriously stiff and lightweight Aeolus RSL 37 wheelset, paired with Pirelli P-Zero RS tires and SmartTube TPU inner tubes—a combination focused on both performance and weight reduction. Further savings can be realized with the optional Matte Deep Smoke paint finish.
True to Trek’s high-end models, the new Madone Gen 8 is available through the Project One program, allowing for deep customization of color and componentry. This launch represents a significant leap, merging aero efficiency with an unprecedented lightweight build for the discerning racer.
