Refined Design Builds Upon Popular Riverside Platform
French sports retailer Decathlon has introduced two compelling new touring bicycles—the ADVT 900 and ADVT 920—that build upon the foundation of their well-regarded Riverside Touring 920. These latest models feature significant upgrades including flat handlebars, premium components, ergonomic grips, and a Shutter Precision dynamo hub for powering lights and charging electronic devices during extended journeys.
The original Riverside Touring 920 gained attention for its extensive accessory mounting options, comprehensive component package, and accessible pricing. Decathlon’s product development team has carefully addressed several areas for improvement identified in earlier models while maintaining the platform’s core versatility and value proposition.

Enhanced Components for Modern Adventure Cycling
Both ADVT models represent substantial upgrades over their predecessor, starting with the transition from drop bars to flat handlebars that provide more comfortable control for most riders. The wheel systems now feature DT Swiss rims paired with Shutter Precision dynamo hubs, while the drivetrains have been updated to modern Shimano 1×12 systems.
These improvements address key concerns noted in previous reviews while keeping pricing competitive at €1,699 for the ADVT 900 and €1,999 for the ADVT 920. The refined specification packages position these bikes as serious contenders in the mid-range adventure cycling market.

Two Distinct Configurations for Different Riding Styles
The ADVT 900 arrives as a fully-equipped touring machine finished in a subtle beige colorway. It includes sturdy front and rear racks, fenders, a Brooks B17 Imperial saddle, and comes with Schwalbe Marathon tires suitable for road and smooth unpaved surfaces. The bike features an impressive 33 mounting points for accessories and includes a Cycle 2Charge USB charger powered by the Shutter Precision PD-7 hub.
In contrast, the ADVT 920 adopts a more performance-oriented approach in a vibrant yellow finish. This model eliminates the racks and fenders, swaps the tires for Vittoria Terreno XC Race rubber, and upgrades to Shimano Deore XT hydraulic disc brakes instead of the TRP mechanical units found on the 900.
Comprehensive Sizing and Ready-to-Ride Packaging
Both ADVT models are available in four frame sizes to accommodate a wide range of riders. Each bicycle ships with a comprehensive assembly kit, making the initial setup straightforward for most cyclists. The thoughtful packaging reflects Decathlon’s experience in delivering bicycles directly to consumers while ensuring they arrive in optimal condition.
The continued evolution of Decathlon’s adventure cycling lineup demonstrates the brand’s commitment to addressing rider feedback while maintaining their signature value-oriented pricing. The ADVT 900 and 920 represent compelling options for cyclists seeking capable touring machines that are ready for adventure right out of the gate.
