Orbea, the Spanish high-performance bike brand, just rolled out its new RS componentry system, and it’s a clear step toward a smarter, cleaner eBike future. The headline feature is the MC10-RS—the world’s first smart dropper seatpost—paired with a minimalist HMI handlebar controller.
Gone are the days of separate batteries for every accessory. The MC10-RS and HMI controller are powered directly by the eBike’s main battery, communicating via a CAN BUS system. That means fewer cables, less clutter, and a lighter build.
What makes this dropper “smart” is the customization available through Orbea’s RS app. Riders can set partial-drop functions—like a double-tap for a 20% drop—to fine-tune saddle height on technical climbs. Available in 180mm, 210mm, and 240mm travel options, it caters to everything from XC racers to enduro riders.
The HMI controller keeps things clean with an integrated interface for motor assist, dropper function, and ride data. Larger buttons and hidden LED lights make it practical for trail use.
Already standard on the new Rise eMTB series, the RS system works with Shimano Di2 shifting—also powered by the main battery. Orbea claims the dropper and shifting combined use less than 1% of the battery, making range anxiety a non-issue.
Orbea isn’t just launching a product; it’s proposing a new eBike ecosystem—one that’s integrated, intuitive, and intelligently powered. For riders looking to simplify their setup without sacrificing performance, the RS system sets a new benchmark.
