Beijing’s Miyun District is preparing to introduce a new cycling route that circles the Miyun Reservoir, offering cyclists a seamless blend of natural landscapes and well-paved roads. The project, developed by the district’s culture and tourism authority, aims to better integrate slow-traffic infrastructure with the urban environment while improving the overall quality of the city’s cycling network.
The route spans over 100 kilometers and serves as a key eco-tourism pathway in the area. It connects several local attractions including Miyun Fisherman’s Street, Qiaomaiyu Folk Village, Yunfo Mountain Ski Resort, Yunhu Resort, Sunshine Valley scenic area, and a range of curated homestays. The path winds along lush, mountainous terrain and water vistas, offering expansive views of the reservoir. With distinct seasonal scenery, the route emphasizes both ecological tourism and cycling appeal.
A representative from the Miyun District Culture and Tourism Bureau shared, “Cycling around the reservoir allows people to fully appreciate Miyun’s natural beauty and pristine environment. The winding and rolling roads also make the ride especially enjoyable. We expect this new route to be well received by both residents and visiting cycling enthusiasts.”
