The fourth Luodong East Slope Mountain Bike Challenge kicked off on September 27 in Tongxin County, Ningxia, drawing nearly 400 riders from 16 provinces across China.
Held under the theme “Red Tongxin, Ancient City,” the event featured five categories, including elite and master men’s and women’s groups, as well as recreational divisions. Participants ranged in age from 10 to 70, highlighting the event’s broad appeal.

The 45-kilometer main course—36 km for the recreational group—started and finished at Weizhou Academy. Riders tackled mixed terrain including roads and mountain trails, passing cultural and natural landmarks such as the Ming Dynasty Royal Tomb, the Luoshan Stargazing Camp, and vast vineyards.

In addition to the race, the county organized local agricultural product exhibitions and an “Autumn Village Gala,” enhancing the event’s cultural and tourism appeal.
The competition is part of Ningxia’s broader effort to promote sports tourism and public fitness, combining outdoor challenges with regional heritage in a vibrant celebration of active lifestyles.
