On September 21, Gulang County in Gansu Province hosted the fifth “Silk Road Fortress · Red Gulang” Babusa Cycling Race, attracting 400 riders from 16 provinces including Beijing, Shaanxi, and Xinjiang.
The 52.58-kilometer route started at the Oasis Town Square and took cyclists through the picturesque landscapes of the Babusa area. As the starting gun fired, riders sped off, pushing through climbs and flats alike, fueled by cheers from spectators lining the course.

He Bingxin, a participant from Lanzhou, praised the event organization: “I take part in the Babusa race every year. The support—from route guidance to supplies and accommodation—is always thorough and reliable.”

Zhen Jianfeng from Dingxi took first place in the men’s youth mountain bike category. “The course was excellent, and the weather was cool and comfortable,” he shared. “Gulang is also known for delicious local dishes like lamb—I’m looking forward to trying some after the race.”
Against a backdrop of early autumn greenery, the event showcased Gulang’s natural beauty and commitment to promoting sports tourism. Riders enjoyed a well-supported, scenic route that combined physical challenge with stunning views.
