Forget spin class—the real cycling magic is happening in Guangxi, China, where emerald-green karst mountains punch through the mist like something out of Avatar, and quiet country roads twist through landscapes so beautiful they literally made it onto Chinese currency.
Yep, you read that right. This is the kind of place you’ve been dreaming of—and a crew of 500 passionate cyclists in Guilin are living that dream every weekend.

We tagged along on one of their classic weekend rides: a sweet 68-kilometer roll from Guilin to the historic town of Baishou. No crazy elevation, no race-day stress—just good company, fresh air, and views that no Netflix show can match.

Baishou (which translates charmingly to “Hundred Longevities”) is one of those ancient northern Guangxi towns that makes you want to quit your desk job and become a full-time adventurer. With Ming-era fortress walls, Song and Qing dynasty stone carvings, and vibes so peaceful you’ll forget what stress feels like—it’s the perfect reward after a sunny day in the saddle.
The crew rolled through lush valleys, past quiet farms and misty hills, laughing and chatting like they were on a moving coffee break—just one with a lot more pedal strokes.
It wasn’t about speed or Strava segments. It was about feeling the breeze, smelling the earth after a light rain, sharing snacks and stories, and ending the day together with a hearty meal in a old-town courtyard.

This is cycling at its purest: not a sport, but a lifestyle. A way to connect—with nature, with history, and with each other.

So whether you’re 18 or 80, grab a bike, find some friends, and go explore. Life’s too short for boring weekends.
