Oakley, in partnership with Meta, has unveiled the Vanguard—a high-performance AI sunglasses designed specifically for athletes. Building on the earlier HSTN model, the Vanguard represents a deeper integration of wearable technology into sports, signaling what the brands call the “era of performance intelligence.”

The sunglasses feature Oakley’s signature bold design, wide coverage, and PRIZM lenses, optimized for protection against sun, wind, and debris. An innovative three-point fit system ensures stability and compatibility with helmets, making them ideal for cycling and other high-intensity activities. Four PRIZM lens options are available, and the frame is sweat and water-resistant with an IP67 rating.

At the core of the Vanguard is a 12MP hands-free camera positioned above the nose bridge. It captures 3K ultra HD photos and videos via voice command, with modes including slow-motion, timelapse, and adjustable stabilization. Integrated open-ear speakers and a five-mic array allow for clear audio even at speeds up to 30 mph.

A standout feature is the seamless integration with Garmin and Strava. When paired with a compatible Garmin device, users can ask Meta AI for real-time stats such as heart rate or pace. An auto-capture function automatically records video when hitting performance milestones. With Strava, media can be overlaid with activity data for easy sharing.
The Vanguard offers up to 9 hours of battery life, extendable to 36 hours with the included charging case. A full charge takes 75 minutes.

Priced at $499, the Oakley Meta Vanguard is available for pre-order now—blending cutting-edge AI with athletic performance in a single sleek package.
