Building on the success of its inaugural edition in 2023, the race was upgraded this year to a UCI 2.1 category event. It attracted 18 top-tier professional teams from 12 countries and regions, half of whom were making their debut at Tour of Huangshan, injecting fresh competition and vitality into the event. The three-day race covered a total distance of 361km. Stage 1 was a 140km city circuit starting and finishing at Tunxi District Century Square. Stage 2, a 120km route, began at Huizhou District Sports Center and concluded with a sprint at Huangshan District Government Square. The final 101km stage started at the Government Square and finished at Yi County Stadium, beautifully showcasing the urban landscape and surroundings of Huangshan.

After intense competition, Daniel Cavia from Spain’s Burgos-BH Pro Continental Team claimed the overall victory, earning the coveted yellow jersey through outstanding individual performance and team strategy.

The relatively short but mountainous final stage featured two sprint points and two climb points, including the toughest Category 1 climb of the entire tour. An early breakaway by riders from Pingtan International Tourism Island Continental Team and Wind雷 Continental Team established a nearly two-minute lead, but they were reeled in by the peloton before the final major climb. The stage concluded with a bunch sprint, where Jeroen Meijers from Philippines’ Go for Gold Philippines team edged out the competition to take the win.

Cavia also secured the sprint and mountain jerseys, achieving a remarkable triple. The blue jersey for Best Asian Rider was awarded to Vadim Pronskiy from Malaysia’s Terengganu Cycling Team.

Parallel to the professional race, the 2025 “Xiwang Cup” Huangshan Cycling Challenge attracted 2,400 amateur cyclists. They tackled a stunning 92.6km route around the scenic Taiping Lake, with categories for Men’s Elite, Masters, Women, and Touring groups. A “partial course sharing” initiative allowed amateur riders to experience UCI-level race services firsthand.

The event transcended pure sport, featuring a series of “Cycling+” activities like an amateur race, a public ride, an EDM cycling festival, a bicycle carnival, and a sports market. This successful integration of sports, tourism, and culture significantly boosted the local economy and showcased Huangshan’s breathtaking scenery and unique Huizhou culture to a global audience via live streams.

The Tour of Huangshan International Road Cycling Race has become a shining international名片 (name card) for the city. The future will see Huangshan further explore the potential of “Sports + Tourism,” converting the success of international events into lasting momentum for regional economic upgrading, truly turning “lucid waters and lush mountains” into invaluable “gold and silver mountains” for its people.

The race was sanctioned by the UCI and jointly organized by the Chinese Cycling Association, the Anhui Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Huangshan Municipal People’s Government.
